PJM joins CHED Chairperson's visit to China

MMSU President Virgilio Julius P. Manzano Jr. joined Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairperson J. Prospero E. De Vera III and other higher education officials in the Philippines for the 30th China International Education Exhibition Tour (CIEET 2025) in Beijing, China, from April 5 to 8, 2025.
Upon arrival, the delegation met with Philippine Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China Jaime Flor Cruz and Vice Consul Maria May-I L. Fabros. They also engaged with Filipino students currently studying in China at the Philippine Embassy in Beijing.
During the meeting, CHED Chairperson De Vera reiterated his support for the Filipino student community in China and expressed his vision to expand the reach of Philippine education globally. A briefing with participating Philippine universities was also conducted.
A memorandum of mutual cooperation was finalized between CHED and the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE), followed by a debriefing session with the Philippine Embassy.
Dr. Manzano expressed that MMSU is committed to long-term and impactful international partnerships with institutions like Beijing City Language University, and to support these endeavors, the university will align internal resources and policies through the International Linkages and Partnership directorate.
Meanwhile, Dr. Manzano also met with the MMSU delegation participating in the China-Thailand-Philippines Young Education Leaders Development Camp 2025, hosted by Beijing Normal University (BNU) from April 7 to 14.
He was also invited to take part in the 30th China International Education Exhibition Tour from April 11 to 25, 2025, as well as the 21st China Study Abroad Forum.
The trip aimed to forge partnerships and global ties among universities and to promote Philippine higher education in China. It included the exploration of potential collaborations with selected Chinese universities such as BCLU, the strengthening of existing partnerships with BNU, and the gathering of valuable insights into international education, student mobility, academic partnerships, and transnational education.
