Product Safety and Standards Office


The Product Safety and Standards Office (PSSO) assists in;

  • Developing research and project proposals involving product safety and standards
  • Supporting the development and commercialization of developed and innovative food products in coordination with partners and clientele
  • Developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating food product safety protocols and standardizing programs and projects in coordination with concerned units and clientele
  • Conceptualizing, designing and developing product packaging, labeling and branding on food and non-food products
  • Evaluating product compliance to safety protocols and standardization
  • Advocating principle and practice of product safety and standard through seminars and trainings
  • Developing of food product safety protocols and standardization training modules in support of food safety standards

The office is under the S&T Park Directorate which is one of the units of the Office of Vice President for Research and Extension. PSSDO is relatively a new office and is on the phase of being fully organized in order to realize all its functions.

To be the lead unit in implementing and monitoring product safety and standards in MMSU and Region 1.

Mission

PPDO is committed to help product development and innovation activities through product safety and standards evaluation, monitoring and recommendation by extending expert services to clientele and units in support of commercialization by conducting extensive advocacy activities, and maintaining strong linkages with public and private organizations.
