For the fourth time, Mariano Marcos State University was recognized as a Platinum Awardee by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) during the Innovation and Technology Support Offices (ITSO) Presidents’ Summit and General Summit on April 10, 2025, at Sequoia Hotel Manila Bay, Parañaque City.

As an awardee under the ITSO 2.0 Clustering Scheme for 2024, the award was conferred by Atty. Brigitte de Costa-Villaluz, Director General of IPOPHL, and received by MMSU officials: Dr. Mee Jay Domingo, Vice President for Planning and Strategic Foresight, and Engr. Artbellson Mamuri, ITSO Manager.

The university was awarded as it exceeded the performance benchmarks set for its cluster, having filed seven patent applications and commercialized two technologies in 2024.

MMSU President Virgilio Julius P. Manzano, Jr. described the award as a reflection of the university's commitment to innovation and intellectual property commercialization.

“We ensure that this recognition will inspire us to register our innovations, to protect the university’s rights, and to promote the importance of IP,” Dr. Manzano added.

IPOPHL is the lead government agency responsible for administering and implementing the nation’s policies on intellectual property, aiming to strengthen the protection of intellectual property rights in the Philippines. The Platinum Award given by IPOPHL is the highest distinction for the country’s top and high-performing ITSO.
