MMSU-ROTC Unit improves rating in 2025 reg'l tactical inspection
The MMSU–Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) Unit earned a 91.66% rating, an improvement from 86% in 2024, during the 2025 ROTC Regional Annual Administrative and Technical Inspection (RAATI) conducted on April 13 at the university oval.
During the tactical inspection, ROTC cadets, under the supervision of MMSU Commandant LTC Meliton Agpaoa, demonstrated their readiness and proficiency in military reserve and administrative tasks, including combat simulations, emergency response drills, formation executions, general orders, military professionalism, and the pledge of loyalty.
The RAATI evaluation team was led by Vice Chairperson LTC Ericson Bolusan, along with MAJ Karl Vincent Collado, 1LT Gil Dela Cruz, MSG Jimmy Calautit, SGT John Dave Doliente, TSG Jayson Guzman, 1LT Reymart Bayang, SGT Jomar Guetteng, SGT Marlon Balagat, MAJ Joewie Bermudes, MAJ Sally Del Campo, SSG Ariel Evangelista, CPL Donald Aquino, and SSG Anthony Tamondong.
Although the rating improved, one of the concerns raised during the evaluation was the low enrollment of first-year students in the ROTC component of the National Service Training Program (NSTP).
Despite this, MMSU President Virgilio Julius P. Manzano Jr. commended the ROTC unit for their commitment to mentoring cadets and instilling nationalism and patriotism among students. “We are aware of the challenge, and the university will exert efforts to increase student interest in ROTC,” he emphasized.
MMSU officials who were present at the tactical inspection were Vice President for Academic Affairs Aris Reynold Cajigal, OIC-Vice President for Administration and Finance Bernardo Fides Bitanga, Curriculum Development and Innovative Learning Director Luvee Hazel Aquino, NSTP Chief Vladimir Ibanez, ROTC Coordinator Reynold Guiang, and ROTC Tactical Officer 1LT Aldwin Aimon Velasco.
The Regional Annual Administrative and Tactical Inspection (RAATI), led by the Philippine Army Reserve Command, is an annual event that evaluates ROTC units in higher education institutions.
