Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) has formalized a partnership with Aurel Vlaicu University of Arad (AVU Arad) in Romania through a virtual memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing on April 3, strengthening international collaborations in academic, research, and community development.
The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Toma Sava, International Relations director of AVU Arad, alongside MMSU representatives: Dr. Dexter Adriatico, chairperson of the Department of Languages and Literature; Dr. Marlina Lino, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences; English faculty member Ms. Chessa Pae Faustino; and Dr. Jeannette Dials, director of External Linkages and Partnerships.
The agreement will pave the way for joint conferences, research initiatives, and capacity-building programs, particularly in the humanities, covering English language teaching, education, communication, and journalism. It also opens opportunities for faculty and student exchanges to foster collaboration in instruction, research, and community engagement.
Additionally, the partnership explores the possibility of developing transnational education programs and short-term courses, sparking both institutions’ commitment to global academic cooperation.
This collaboration stemmed from Dr. Adriatico’s participation in the Study of the United States Institutes on Contemporary American Literature (SUSI-CAL) fellowship from July 1 to August 24, 2024, where he and Dr. Sava discussed potential linkages between their universities.
