CHED RQAT reviews CASAT fisheries program

Upholding its commitment to quality fisheries education, the Mariano Marcos State University – College of Aquatic Sciences and Applied Technology (MMSU-CASAT) welcomed the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Quality Assessment Team (RQAT) for the onsite evaluation of the Bachelor of Science in Fisheries program held on August 29 at the FEM Conference Hall.
The assessment seeks to ensure the program’s compliance with CHED standards and to strengthen its delivery of instruction, research, and extension services in fisheries and aquatic sciences.
Serving as CHED-RQAT evaluators were Ms. Diody C. Quimno, Senior Aquaculturist of BFAR-Region 1, and Atty. Dessa U. Estrada, Education Supervisor II.
Dr. Meejay A. Domingo, Vice President for Planning and Strategic Foresight and OIC for the Office of the President, welcomed the team and expressed gratitude for their commitment to guiding MMSU in sustaining its stature as a national university for fisheries education.
Messages of support were also delivered by Dr. Marlina Lino, OIC-VPAA, who emphasized the university’s dedication to delivering quality academic programs, and Dr. Lawrence Eclarin, Director for Quality Assurance, who underscored the importance of continuous improvement to uphold excellence in fisheries education.
Joining the activity were University and Board Secretary Atty. Arla C. Agrupis, CASAT OIC-Dean Asst. Prof. Pilar Carolyn V. Pascual, and the Fisheries Department faculty who showed their full support throughout the evaluation.
Through this RQAT evaluation, MMSU-CASAT reaffirms its commitment to producing globally competitive fisheries professionals and sustaining its role as a leading institution in advancing aquatic and coastal resource management in the region.
