A team from the MMSU College of Teacher Education (CTE) captured a championship and a third-place finish in two separate international poster competitions hosted by Indonesian universities in April 2025.
Composed of fourth-year students Karl Humprey Pagdilao, Ronwell Johnloyd Camacho, and Jennyrose Laguardia, and mentored by Mr. Christian Jeffrey Balintec, the team emerged as the champions of the poster competition at INTECHSION 2025, hosted by Universitas Negeri Malang, on April 27.
At INTECHSION 2025, their winning entry, "AI-CamShield," showcased a cutting-edge, solar-powered camera system equipped with AI-driven crop assessment, urgent mitigation alerts, water and heat resistance, flexible installation features, and multi-device monitoring via a dedicated mobile application.
Meanwhile, the same team also secured third place in the International Poster Competition (I-POSTION) 2025, organized by the Bachelor of Vocational Accounting, Faculty of Vocational Studies, State University of Malang, on April 25.
Their poster interpreted the theme "Sustainable Economy, Youth Energy: Transforming the World Together” and promoted sustainable practices for a greener economy while emphasizing the crucial role of youth in driving global change. The design highlighted the integration of artificial intelligence, symbolizing how today's youth are technologically adept and how leveraging AI can support sustainability efforts.
One of the team members, Karl Humprey Pagdilao, expressed his delight over their back-to-back achievements. “This experience proves that with teamwork, perseverance, and creativity, we can compete and shine at the global level,” he said.
“We hope this will inspire more MMSU students to step out, showcase their talents, and make a mark internationally," Pagdilao added.
The team expressed gratitude to Prof. Gina Sylvia Gaoat, the CTE Student Activities and Affairs Coordinator; Dr. Ronald Candy Lasaten, dean of the college; and Prof. Jeanette Dials, director of International Linkages and Partnerships.
