Four Physical Therapy (PT) students of Mariano Marcos State University are undergoing a clinical learning experience at Binawan University (BU) in Indonesia from November 8 to 22, as part of the student and faculty exchange program between the two universities.
The delegation is composed of Jane Russell Belda, Divina Grace Coloma, Princess Ethan Domingo, and Jessa Rose Lynn Pinera, all BSPT students of MMSU, together with Ms. Kriza Ganotisi, faculty member of the BSPT Department, and Dr. Cheryll Didi Nellie Obra, dean of the College of Health Sciences (CHS).
BU officials, students, and staff, led by Chancellor Henny Suzana Mediani, together with Vice Chancellor Farouk Abdullah Awyni, BU Health Sciences and Technology Dean Mia Srimiati, and Chief of Physiotherapy Program Noraeni Arsyad, welcomed the MMSU delegation.
During their stay, the MMSU students are engaged in clinical immersion in selected hospitals and clinics across Indonesia. They are exposed to various practices and specializations, including cardiorespiratory, sports and orthopedic, geriatric, pediatric, and neurologic physical therapy.
Ms. Ganotisi also shared her expertise on Health Literacy through a lecture titled, “Physical Therapy Among Senior Citizens with Physical Disability and Community Health Workers” for Transcultural Physiotherapy Students at BU, emphasizing the role of PT education in promoting community-based health services.
In September 2024, MMSU and BU signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), sealing their partnership for the expansion of exchange programs for students and faculty members under the BSPT and BS Pharmacy programs, and for joint pursuits in scientific research and publication.
Through this collaboration, MMSU strives to reach more communities globally by providing clinical exposure for allied health students and sharing expertise with its international partners. The initiative further strengthens cultural exchange, research collaboration, and professional development between MMSU and BU.
