3 MMSU EE alumni named ASEAN engineers

Three alumni of the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) have been officially included in the Distribution List of the ASEAN Monitoring Committee on Engineering Services of the Philippines (AMCESP), following their successful interview with the ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer (ACPE) Panel of Experts this year.
The new ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineers (ACPEs) are Engr. Botany KC Anne Sevilleja-Briones, Engr. Rigor Gabur, and Engr. Melecio Alonzo. They join a prestigious group of professionals recognized under the ASEAN Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) on Engineering Services, which facilitates cross-border mobility and collaboration among qualified engineers in ASEAN member countries.
According to Engr. Gabur, one of the newly recognized ACPEs and the current International Accreditation in charge of the MMSU College of Engineering, the achievement reflects the university’s strong commitment to internationalization.
“Rather than seeing it as an achievement solely for myself, I consider this as an opportunity to further contribute to MMSU by helping build stronger international linkages, collaborative research, and accreditation initiatives aligned with the Washington Accord,” Engr. Gabur shared.
MMSU President Dr. Virgilio Julius P. Manzano Jr., himself an ASEAN engineer, expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the three alumni for bringing honor to the university. “This recognition is not only a personal milestone for the engineers but also a testament to the excellence that MMSU instills in its graduates,” PJM said. He also encouraged other MMSU engineers to aspire for ASEAN accreditation, stressing its value as a mark of quality, competence, and global readiness.
The three engineers are scheduled to be formally conferred as ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineers on November 21, 2025, at the Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria in Quezon City.
This accomplishment reinforces MMSU’s growing reputation as a leading institution for globally competent engineering education. It also supports the university’s broader efforts toward international accreditation and alignment with global academic standards.
The ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer (ACPE) designation is a prestigious regional qualification that allows registered engineers to practice their profession across ASEAN countries. Administered under the ASEAN Mutual Recognition Arrangement on Engineering Services, the ACPE framework recognizes professionals who meet stringent academic and experience-based qualifications, promoting mobility, collaboration, and integration of engineering services in Southeast Asia.
With this latest milestone, MMSU once again proves its continued pursuit of excellence and global engagement, opening doors for its graduates to serve not just locally, but across borders.
