Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) has received official accreditation from the National Book Development Board (NBDB) to publish, print, and sell books starting in May 2025.

This certification was obtained by the MMSU Press, the university’s official publishing arm under the Office for Strategic Communication. With this recognition, MMSU is now able to acquire International Standard Book Numbers (ISBNs) from the National Library of the Philippines, allowing the university to publish both academic and creative works, create a publishing platform for the MMSU community, and distribute books to students and targeted markets.

MMSU first registered for ISBN and ISSN in 2001, enabling the university to distribute books and journals. The new NBDB certification enhances MMSU’s ability to produce and circulate knowledge products with excellence and a broader reach.

Additionally, MMSU will receive priority invitations to workshops, seminars, and partnership summits initiated by the NBDB. This includes opportunities for sponsorships and collaborations in various local and international events such as seminars, book fairs, and rights fairs.

MMSU will also have priority access to grants from the National Book Development Trust Fund, including the Translation Subsidy, Travel and Contest Grants, and the Book and Buy program.

The MMSU Press is collaborating with the Curriculum Development and Innovative Learning, Instructional Material Development Unit, Research Directorate, and University Innovation and Technology Support Office to ensure the production of high-quality academic and creative works that reflect the university’s commitment to knowledge generation, research, and innovation.

The National Book Development Board (NBDB) is an agency of the Philippine government under the Department of Education, established through Republic Act No. 8047 or the Book Publishing Industry Development Act. It formulates, adopts, and implements a National Book Policy that serves as the foundation for promoting the progressive growth and viability of the book industry, ensuring an adequate supply of affordable, quality-produced books for the domestic and export markets.
